Non-fiction book fair begins at Dhaka University.

Three days 'fifth non-fiction book fair-2019' has been started at the premises of Business Studies Faculty of Dhaka University (DU). The Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the fair by releasing colorful balloons on Tuesday (November 12) morning.
Twenty-six publishing companies have participated in this year's non-fiction book fair organized by the 'Banik Barta' and Faculty of Business Studies DU.The fair is open to all from 9am to 5pm daily.There is 30% discount on all books at the fair. One of the aims of this endeavor is to increase the familiarity of business and non-fiction books among the students and to make them interested in reading such books. Editor of Banik Barta Dewan Hanif Mahmud presided over the inaugural ceremony, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies of Dhaka University Prof. Shibli Rubaiyatul Islam, Director General of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) Aktaruzzaman, Managing Director of Sonali Bank Ataur Rahman Pradhan, Managing Director of Janata Bank Abdus Salam Azad, Managing Director of Agrani Bank Shams-ul-Islam, Managing Director of Rupali Bank Obaidullah Al-Masud, Managing Director of First Security Islamic Bank Syed Wasek Md. Ali, Deputy Managing Director of Islamic Bank Abu Reza Md. Yahiya,Chairman and Assistant Proctor of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management Mohammad Badaruzzaman Bhuiyan. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said,"Book fairs are organized in our country. But the non-fiction book fair has its unique characteristics. This book fair is especially important for teachers and students. The fair has brought books to the university premises for their academic work."

VC also thanked the Faculty of Business Studies and Banik Barta for organizing this book fair every year. He urged this fair to continue in the future. Professor Shibli Rubaiyatul Islam said,"At present,we have become so dependent on technology that's why the pressure on the eyes and the brain is increasing day by day. There is so much inclination towards technology, so much attraction that our body is now beginning to suffer physical problems. So people are paying attention to that printed book again.I thanked all the organizations and individuals involved in organizing the non-fiction book fair." At the welcome address,editor of 'Banik Barta' Dewan Hanif Mahmud, said "We started this fair five years ago.Gradually the fair has taken a very strong position.For this, I would like to express my gratitude to the organizing aid University of Dhaka,especially the Faculty of Business Studies and the associate institutions.
